Plumbing

1. The old cast iron drains are removed from the crawl.

2. We spent an entire weekend at the end of October without an operating bathroom while we replaced the cast iron drains with ABS. Read “Holy Water” in the Remodel Stories section, if you want to know more.

3. The new ABS drains.

4. The plumbing for the new upstairs bathroom. Remember picture number one in “Preparing for the Upstairs Addition”? This is that same room. Notice the floor joists with the orange tops? Those are LVLs, special beams we had to buy in order to support the weight of a 92 gallon jetted tub.

5. After stuffing the floor cavities with insulation (to reduce sound into the bedroom downstairs), we sheeted the floor. The plumbing sticking up will be (from left to right): the tub (in the far corner), the shower, toilet, and sinks.
