Fun in the Laundry Room

1. Floor joists for new downstairs area, which will be an expansion of the laundry room, in place. *Note: The wall to the left will be demolished, and the electrical panel and conduit on the facing wall to be removed.

2. Floor sheathed, and Brian’s ready for demo!

3. The framing goes up, and, of course, it starts raining.

4. The walls get sheeted and weather protected, and the windows cut out. A temporary roof is on, until the upstairs addition is built.

5. A view from inside.

6. So… the existing wall wasn’t square, was only framed out of 2×4s, and several of the boards were bug eaten. As you can see, we tore it out.

7. Okay, it’s the end of May 2005, and now it’s a wall!

8. As of March 2006 (yes, going on a year later) this is what it looks like from the inside. The windows are in, the electrical panel reset (and the entire house rewired in the process), the floor sheeted, and some of the sheetrock up. What’s left to do? Insulate the ceiling for noise, then add sheetrock. Texture and paint and tile and trim. Oh, and get rid of the upright freezer so we can build shelves and organize!
