Stairs
At time of purchase: April 2003
Looking up:

Looking down:

The stairs between up and downstairs were separated by walls and a door. The treads were too small for even my feet, and people taller than 5′6′’ hit their head on the wall dropping down a quarter of the way up. They were painted fir, and very weak. But now look at them.
November 2006

Wall between kitchen and stairway removed, and all new stairs built with oak treads, risers and handrail. The newel and posts will be painted white, as they are not oak. The rest will be stained, along with the floors.

Top of stairs, looking at 1. from downstairs up, to the window in the newly added dormer; 2. the diamond pattern in the landing at top of stairs, made of oak flooring; 3. view from my future office doorway. The other side of the hallway leads to the master bed and bath.
